About Solar States
Solar States is a Philadelphia-based solar installation company founded in 2008 and certified as a B Corporation. The company serves residential and commercial customers across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. Its installation services include rooftop solar panels, Tesla Powerwalls, rooftop solar canopies and pergolas, and EV chargers and carports. Solar States handles design and installation in-house and also offers panel removal and reinstallation for customers who need roof work. Since its founding, the company has completed over 2,000 solar projects and reports more than $14 million in avoided utility costs for its clients. In 2025, crews completed nearly 300 installations. Beyond installation, Solar States operates a workforce development and education program — in 2025 it trained 132 students, provided 27 internships, and hired 10 full-time employees, with programs expanding into Chester County and Harrisburg. The company has a customer portal for monitoring and account management, and a referral program that pays $500 to customers who refer friends or neighbors who go solar. Solar States also runs a solar education podcast and hosts community solar open house events.
