About Nashville Electric Service - Music City Solar
Music City Solar is Nashville's first community solar park, developed and operated by Nashville Electric Service (NES), the city's public utility. Located on a former landfill site off Interstate 65, the park consists of 17,020 solar panels and went live on August 1, 2018. NES customers—both homeowners and renters—can participate through two programs. The Go Solar program allows customers to purchase subscriptions to individual solar panels and receive energy credits on their monthly NES electric bills through the year 2038. The Give Solar program lets customers purchase subscriptions on behalf of others, providing energy credits to friends or family, or make tax-deductible solar angel donations that fund energy assistance for low-income Nashville residents. Those donated funds are collected and distributed locally by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. According to figures published on the site, the park has generated over 15.5 million kWh of electricity, with 2,328 panels under customer lease and 9,530 panels still available for subscription. The program is open to all NES customers across Nashville.
